ARG!!! Typed this all in once already but hit the wrong thing and erased it.  Some days I hate computers!

Had a fantastic weekend... spent the entire weekend hanging out with three great friends (one of whom I had met by didn't really know).  The three of us who are girls did lots of fun girl things and decided we all need to get together more often for girl time!  We...  went shopping and bought matching shoes, painted out toenails, played in the shop (they made AWESOME!!! cups), grilled large chunks of meat, psychoanalyzed, and gossiped.  What more can three girls want?

However.... it was also pointed out to me that Lilies isn't that far away anymore, and I have a TON to do between now and then... I have to finish my camp bed, build a spring pole lathe, finish that walnut bench I started a while ago, and make a bunch of cups for the people who didn't get them at Gulf Wars.  And move in two weeks.  And open a show May 1st.  Going to be a busy couple of weeks!

First public posting...

A friend told me about Live Journal a while ago, and I realized I've been lurking and adding friends, and never posted anything publicly. I did post some personal ranting stuff no one else ever needs to see, but that was just because I had to get it out of my system... but not necessarily anything I wanted anyone else to read! I realized I probably wasn't being very nice since I really enjoy reading everyone else's posts.  Which, by the way.... some of you have some amazing pages... and I haven't got the faintest idea how to make mind more interesting!  So.  Here is my first post.

I went to see one of the student plays last night. It was actually two one act plays-  No Exit by Sarte, and Chamber Music (dont' remember the author).  Now... I love my students, and they worked really hard on these, but frankly.... Chamber Music in particular was pretty lousy.   It was really just not the right play-  for the student director or actors.  Not good.  Nothing I can do about that but congratulate them on all their hard work and lie just a little bit. But... being somewhat sensitive to the production values (I do build sets, after all), there were some things that just could and should have been better.  Like... making the walls not shake when the doors shut.  Not that hard to accomplish.  So... do I make a personal rule to go to one of the earlier rehearsals and give them notes, or do I let them sink or stand on their own merits?  Now, normally, I would just say I should to to earlier rehearsals so I can give them notes and make them fix the obvious problems, but these student shows are supposed to be "by students for students", as a sort of seperate organization.  Hmm.... what to do?
